The single biggest image-quality upgrade for reflective work. Slide the polarizer in and specular glare from solder, anodised metal and glossy coatings disappears — what is left is structure: grain, tool marks, cracks, residue.
Every polished surface fights back. Ring LEDs bounce straight off solder mask, brushed aluminium and cured resin, washing out exactly the features an inspector is paid to find. The DM023P attacks the problem optically — a rotatable polarizing filter on the body crosses out specular reflections before they ever reach the sensor.
The effect is not a filter preset. Grain structure in metals, subsurface cracks, flux residue and printed texture all gain contrast that software denoising cannot synthesise. And because the filter switches on the body, the same unit handles glossy coins at lunchtime and matte PCBs after — no second device.

Yes — it slides and rotates on the barrel, so you can go from fully polarised to fully clear in one motion. Translucent or matte samples often image better with it off.
Polarisation helps with skin too, but the dedicated UB-DM023B dermatoscope adds UV and clinical colour calibration. For clinics we recommend the DM023B; for general inspection with occasional skin use, the DM023P is fine.
No — it is a passive optical filter. Sensor resolution, frame rate and colour pipeline are identical to the non-polarised platform.
